Obituary

Jaime Chulef, 88, loving father of Rivi (Scott) Kurtz, Addy Chulef (Max Mindel) and Hazzan Hery Chulef; cherished Zeide of Elliott (Kim) Kurtz, Harry Kurtz, Jessie Mindel and Sheyna Chulef; devoted son of the late Raquel and Moises Chulef; dear brother of Natan Shalev; treasured uncle and friend of many. Due to the pandemic and out of concern for our extended family and friends, the graveside service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jaime’s memory may be made to Congregation Bnai Tikvah.

Dear Chazzan Hery and Family,
Our hearts go out to you on the death of your dear father, Jaime. We are deeply sorry and saddened for your loss. I (Tammy) remember the first time I met your father. It was at Rosh Hashanah services at B’nai Tikvah. I had noticed an older man when he walked by us in shul and who reminded me of my father (Of Blessed Memory). He said to me, “Do you know who I am? I’m the chazzan’s father.” He sounded so proud of you. It always made me feel good to see him in shul, and I thought of my own dad. He was a good man and he will be missed. His goodness lives on in you and your family. We are sending you virtual hugs and love. May his memory be for a blessing.

It was always a pleasure to see Jaime at weekly Shabbat services. We sat together on several occasions over the past few years at shul. He was a kind man, full of wisdom. He will be missed.
